Esports organization 100 Thieves has announced their exit from CS:GO scene. As such, The CS:GO roster will be inactive after their recent good performance. The roster was able to win 2nd place at ESL Pro League Season 12. The 100 Thieves is currently competing in IEM New York 2020, reaching the semifinal. However, it is true that the CS:GO roster was struggling in early to mid-2020. So, let’s see how their last run goes.

Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, 100 Thieves Founder and CEO, is posting a video to Twitter on October 13th. In the video, he explains how and why it has come to this. This will be the second time 100 Thieves pulls out from CS:GO. The first was after they decided to release their Brazillian CS:GO roster back in 2017.

The CS:GO Roster Issues

The main issue is COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic forces all esports events to be online events. With CS:GO tournaments taking place mainly in Europe, the CS:GO roster has to be in Europe as well. However, 100 Thieves is a North American organization. So, while the roster is competing in Europe, 100 Thieves cannot fully support their players and coaches.

The next problem as mentioned by Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski in his interview with The Loadout is that online tournaments could be very exhausting sometimes. This is because players must play game after game without sufficient time for reset and break. For example, Andreas’ Xyp9x‘ Højsleth from Astralis. Xyp9x was taking a break from CS:GO back in June due to exhaustion.

As 100 Thieves thought it would be hard to continue, they finally have decided to drop their CS:GO roster after IEM New York 2020. Now, 100 Thieves is communicating with multiple organizations to find their players a new team in Europe. “At the end of the day, we believed that our player’s success, whether they are competing for us now or in the future, is our number one priority,” says the CEO. Thank you, 100 Thieves CS:GO.
