Captain Traunt Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is an action RPG FPS game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. It is the sequel to 2012’s Borderlands 2, and the fourth main entry in the Borderlands series. And like other RPGs, some of the bosses sometimes can be a pain to defeat. One of them is Captain Traunt.

When you’re near the end of Athenas, you’ll need to fight Traunt. Taking him down can be frustrating because he is seriously tough, but we’re here to help. Read on for some tips on defeating this boss in Borderlands 3.

How To Defeat Captain Traunt in Borderlands 3

Time needed: 30 minutes

Captain Traunt is the boss at the end of the Athenas planet, and he’s a combination of all three types of heavy enemies; incendiary, corrosive, and shock. You have to fight him in an enormous courtyard with a number of smaller enemies spawning throughout the fight.

  1. Don’t linger around the edges of the arena

It may be tempting to stick to the edges of the arena because Captain Traunt tends to leap at you from afar, but we’d recommend not doing that. He can send enormous balls of fire and ice around the edge. It really deals immense damage.

  2. Shoot his back generator

It’s not easy to get behind this behemoth, but if you can, shoot at the generator on his back. This is his weak spot and where you’ll deal critical hits.

  3. Leave some smaller enemies

Leave one or two alive at any one point so that if you get knocked down, you can quickly kill one of them to activate second wind. There’s nothing worse than going down and the only enemy in sight is the boss with half its health still to go.

  4. Use shock weapons to take down his shield

Captain Traunt has a huge shield bar and when you’ve taken it down, his health will deplete much faster. So, equip your best shock weapon before entering the arena.
