Marvel Studios’ Ironheart is set to introduce Riri Williams, a brand-new hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character will be portrayed by Judas and the Black Messiah actress Dominique Thorne, and she will be joined by a stellar cast that includes In The Heights actor Anthony Ramos and This Is Us star Lyric Ross.
The exact plot details of the show are still being kept under wraps, but it is expected to dive into the origin story of this new MCU heroine. Before her small screen debut on Disney+, Thorne’s Riri Williams will first make an appearance in this year’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, setting the stage for a team-up with Letitia Wright’s Shuri.
Dominique Thorne’s Much-Awaited MCU Debut
Ironheart reportedly began filming in June 2022, which came alongside the casting of Good Girls alum Manny Montana. Now, a new look at the series has emerged online.
While the set photo doesn’t give away any story details about Ironheart, it still shows fans an idea of the potential look of Dominique Thorne in character as Riri Williams. It is unknown if Ironheart is set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but it’s possible that her appearance will be updated for the Disney+ series either way.
Given that production of Ironheart is already in full swing, this set photo could be the first of many that could leak online. There’s a chance that the first look at Williams’ advanced tech armor could be unveiled, while fresh looks at Anthony Ramos and Lyric Ross’ respective MCU characters could also emerge.
Marvel Studios is set to have a major presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and this could be where more concrete updates about Ironheart are revealed. While a trailer is unlikely, the official first look at Thorne’s Ironheart armor and the show’s release window might be in the cards for the Hall H presentation.
All in all, Riri Williams seems poised to make a memorable MCU debut that could have massive ramifications for the franchise.
Ironheart is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2023; Riri Williams will debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which hits theaters on Friday, November 11.
