Marvel Studios continues to run with many upcoming film projects that will build on the culmination of events like what happened in the Infinity Saga with Infinity War and the Endgame movies. Unfortunately, the director who handled the two big projects did not return to the upcoming Avenger event.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fifth Avengers film has now found a director to direct the storyline of meeting the Avengers after Endgame. The announcement finally shut down speculation about who would direct the big Marvel film, after the Russo Brothers said they were not involved in the project.
Avengers: Kang Dynasty Director Revealed
At San Diego Comic-Con recently, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed that the Russo Brothers were not involved in Avengers 5 and were looking for a new director.
“They’re telling the truth. No. We don’t have a director for Secret Wars. You’ll see about some other director announcements in some films. They’re not lying to you,” Kevin Feige was quoted as saying by Comic Books.
According to Kevin Feige, the Russo Brothers are currently very busy running their AGBO empire. He also said that the world is getting better because of what the Russo Brothers did.
Feige also explained that after Infinity War and Endgame, the Avengers movie is not the end of a phase like the 3 initial phases. He emphasized that there are currently so many Marvel films, so he thought that Avengers should be the end of a saga.
After a brief search, Marvel has announced that Daniel Cretton, director of the films Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, will direct Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Reporting from The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel appointed Daniel Cretton who successfully brought Shang-Chi into the MCU and received a positive response.
Even so, it is not yet known who will write the script for Avengers: Kang Dynasty. However, the fifth Avengers film will be released on May 2, 2025. Daniel Cretton was previously also appointed by Marvel to work on Wonder Man which will air on Disney+. With this, Avengers 5 will be Daniel Cretton’s third film for the Marvel family.
