Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia will not only dive deep into the Quantum Realm, but is also expected to fully feature the arrival of the next big MCU villain, Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror.
Majors has already debuted as He Who Remains in Loki, but this alternative Variant isn’t as violent as it would appear in the three Ant-Man sequels. The ending of Loki Season 1 proves that Kang is just getting started with his evil time travel antics, and sadly, the Ant-Man team will be one of the first heroes to experience his wrath.
Kang the Conqueror’s First Appearance
Loki Season 1 director Kate Herron has teased that Kang has an “incredible” Marvel future, saying that the character’s “significance” in the MCU is something the Majors are aware of and embrace. Now, in front of a large Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the first official look at the MCU’s next big threat has surfaced online.
Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park shared a first look at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia, featuring Paul Rudd’s new Ant-Man costume, Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp, and Kathryn Newton’s new Cassie Lang suit. Beside them was a towering image of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.
Kang the Conqueror’s looming presence in the poster could suggest that the character could play the villain in the backdrop of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia. From Kang not being the main Variant of himself to the villain directing orders to another unnamed villain, the possibilities are endless for his role in the upcoming threequel.
Whatever the case, Kang’s inevitable debut poses problems for both the Ant-Man team and the rest of the MCU, and this could mean that the Avengers team could finally happen sooner rather than later. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumia will premiere in theaters on February 17, 2023.
