Mcu Blade Disappointing Filming Update

A new flavor should come to MCU fans when Blade gets confirmed to be a part of that huge franchise. Fans have been waiting for Mahershala Ali for a long time to raise his sword and hunt down some vampires. However, since his casting announcement, the only official MCU content the actor has done is a voice cameo at the end of Eternals.

Rumors suggest she could appear in this year’s Disney Plus Halloween special, but it’s her solo project that fans have been waiting for. Plot details are thin, but breadcrumbs have been left behind by Marvel over the years.

For one, a casting call for the film could suggest that Blade will get help taking on Dracula in the form of Taj Mital and Rachel van Helsing. In addition, Dane Whitman, played by Kit Harrington, could also be a candidate for a supporting role.

MCU Blade Disappointing Filming Update

While it was previously known to begin filming in July 2022 in Atlanta, GA, it now looks like Ali’s long-awaited project will have to wait a little longer before it hits the camera.

The disappointing thing we mean about Blade is that its filming date was delayed. According to Lizzie Hill at The Cosmic Circus, Blade’s production start date has been postponed to October, and will begin shooting at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. It seems the project may also be shot in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Morocco.

Initially, the Mahershala Ali project was previously rumored to start rolling cameras around early July. The reason for the change was not given.

Reasons Cause Delay to Occur

So why the delay? Well, one of the main reasons it could easily be script changes. For better or for worse, the film may not be where Marvel Studios wants it to be. Another motivating factor could be scheduling issues or behind-the-scenes changes.

As Hill noted in his report, it’s difficult to know all the factors that tend to play a role in decisions like these. It’s been almost three years since the project was first announced, so fans are eager to get the cameras rolling.

The latest update to the film comes from The Direct, whose sources reveal that Milan Ray from The Wonder Years has joined the project in an undisclosed role. While that’s still a rumor, for now, assuming she’s actually joined the film, one of the characters she might play is Fallen Grey—also known as the daughter of the titular character.

Hopefully, the film can still be released in 2023, which is expected to land for some time now. Right now, Disney holds the November 13 slot, which could be a good guess at when Marvel hopes to release Blade to the world. Hopefully, this only happened at one time and didn’t happen for a long time.
