The surprise news comes from Brendan Fraser, a Hollywood star well-known for The Mummy trilogy. Fraser is now playing as Robotman in Doom Patrol, a TV series about a team of unfortunate superheroes. Relating to this role, he recently talks to Yahoo Entertainment that he ever been auditioned for Superman.

This audition happened in 2002 for a Superman movie, entitled: Superman: Flyby. This project was written by J.J. Abrams and directed by Brett Ratner. This project attracted many new faces to play as Superman, including Fraser himself, James Marsden, and Fraser’s current fellow in Doom Patrol, the Negative Man, Matt Bomer. Unfortunately, this movie has never been finished and later found evolving into the story of Superman Returns.

Despite the movie has never been realized, Fraser expresses his proudness for ever wearing the Man of Steel’s costume. He said, “You feel kind of invincible, [like] ‘I can fly. The cape actually makes you think you have the power of flight even though you know you don’t.” He also admired the work of Abram saying that he was like in a secret mission for reading the script. “The script was printed on crimson paper with black ink so it couldn’t be photocopied. I was allowed to sit in an office and read it for an hour. It was like a covert operation.”

With another news claiming that Henry Cavill will retire as Superman, it is still undecided who will take the role of future Superman. As we know, there were only three actors that have played the role. Christopher Reeve starts the list by playing the first four Superman films. Brandon Routh continues even though only playing Superman Returns in 2006. And the rest recent ones played by Henry Cavill himself.
