Eli Craig, director of Tucker and Dale vs Evil, will have his next film, The Hills Have Eyes For You, premiere on Netflix.
Tucker and Dale vs Evil didn’t make much of a splash at the box office, but has become a beloved cult favorite in recent years, particularly because of the way it flips horror stereotypes, and especially after it started streaming on Netflix.
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil 2 has been rumored for years, but sadly it doesn’t appear likely to happen. However, Craig has a new project lined up.
A Horror Rom-Com Project
According to Deadline, director Eli Craig will be bringing his next film, described as a horror rom-com, to Netflix. Netflix recently acquired the rights to David Stieve’s spec script entitled The Hills Have Eyes For You, which Craig will direct and Farah Films will produce.
Stieve previously wrote the 2007 horror comedy, Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. In regards to directing the film, Craig stated, “I think I’ll be in my element for this one.“
Though the plot of the film is being kept under wraps for now, Craig says, “This is a unique underdog love story with genre bending scares and a lot of laughs.” Producer Dan Farah sees it as, “a fresh and fun love story set against the backdrop of an elevated horror comedy.” As for a release window, that has not been released at this time.
