A new Thor movie called Love and Thunder hit theaters a while back, and we can see Guardians of the Galaxy also come with no big impact. Prior to that event in the film itself, Thor traveled together with the Star-lord and his friends.
The entire cast makes cameo appearances in the film, including Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill as well as Rocket, Drax, and Nebula. Of course, James Gunn, writer, and director of the Guardians films took a lot of ownership of these characters. And rightfully so, because he had a big hand in developing the franchise’s look, tone, and personality.
Guardian Vol. 3 Will Ignore Love and Thunder
In an interview with Screen Rant that took place at San Diego Comic-Con, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn said no when asked if the events of Thor: Love and Thunder had an impact on his upcoming film.
But at least, will Guardians 3 reference Thor? Just a reference maybe, but the biggest cameo is potentially not. The third film seems to focus heavily on the Guardians themselves as they attempt to be the final chapter for this crew version.
But there’s still plenty of time to make changes, maybe still have Chris Hemsworth as a minor cameo, or at least as a memory scene.
But the point is that neither the story nor the characters from Vol. 3 will be influenced by Thor. Marvel Studios Thor: Love and Thunder are now in theaters, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
