What If The Official Season 2 Release Date

What if…? marks a major step in Phase 4 as it continues the introduction of the MCU Multiverse and marks Marvel Studios’ first leap into animation. Season 1 has brought Captain Carter, Doctor Strange Supreme, Infinity Ultron, and many more crazy scenarios, and Season 2 looks set to bring even more.

The official production summary for Moon Knight previously confirmed What If…? Season 2 is slated to be released in late 2022. Meanwhile, Disney+ Netherlands sent out a newsletter claiming that the animation premiere was set for July 20, but obviously, that was proven wrong.

What If Disney Plus Season 2 Update Disappoints?

Now, Marvel Studios has finally confirmed when What If…? Season 2 is coming to Disney+, and seems to have been delayed.

Marvel Studios officially announced at the San Diego Comic-Con animation panel that What If…? Season 2 has been postponed to premiere in early 2023. Season 3 has entered development for Disney+ with no confirmed release window at this time.

The announcement of the delay follows Disney’s official list claiming a follow-up to Multiversal is set for a late 2022 release on Disney+.

Confirmed “saving the multiverse, one universe at a time” heroes will include Hela, Captain Carter, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, and more. ComicBook also lists the inclusion of young Peter Parker, Yondu, Korg, Thanos, Grandmaster, Red Guardian, Ego, Shang-Chi, Bucky, Captain America, and Gamora.

Other information also revealing the panel includes confirmations inspired by the comic book storyline of 1602 that takes place in a world where Marvel’s heroes instead exist in the Elizabethan era.

On a more modest note, many would love to hear confirmation of Captain Carter Hayley Atwell returning in a follow-up to his Season 1 episode. Captain Carter will have teamed up with the Avengers by the time the story begins, setting the course for an alternate take on The Winter Soldier, with Steve Rogers’ HYDRA Stomper teasing in the post-credits scene to take on the role of Bucky.
