Marvel fans are still recovering from the MCU mega-panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The show unveils the next four years of the storied super-powered franchise, revealing release dates for a number of projects and even an Avengers movie or two. But one name that is absent from the SDCC is the X-Men.
Ever since Marvel Studios bought Fox Studios, Marvel’s incredible mutant has been groomed to join the MCU. Rumors of the Mutant project have been swirling around for a while and the mutant gene is on the minds of many, as it has been confirmed that Kamala Kahn is one of the late Ms. Marvel.
Will the X-Men Join Avengers World Soon?
But when will the X-Men come to the MCU? Well, Kevin Feige has provided the first hint of Comic-Con. Speaking with Brandon Davis of Comicbook.com, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige hinted at when fans can expect the X-Men in the MCU.
Davis joked that “Stage 10, is it going to be Phase X?” alluding to Marvel’s signature mutant team, to which Feige replies, “You want to wait until Phase 10 for the X-Men?… Alright, that’s longer than I’d like:”
Yes, this quote is joking, but there is some comfort to be drawn from Feige’s answer here. He’s itching to get this mutant on screen and will do it sooner rather than later.
Right now, the MCU is just starting to plant the seeds of those first mutants, so it’ll be a while before they grow into something fans can watch on the big screen, but it won’t be a long process. decades.
At Comic-Con, Marvel called what they’re dealing with now with the MCU the Multiverse Saga. From there, it made sense to move into the Mutant Saga, building on the main X-Men cast and bringing them fully into the MCU for the first time. It’s going to take a bit of time, but to paraphrase Kevin Feige, at least it won’t be Phase 10.
