Blackpink on The Netflix Documentary
Netflix teased the possibility of a Blackpink project back in February, when fans wondered about its existence on Twitter. Netflix then replied to a fan’s speculation, “We currently don’t have any info on when that’ll be released. Make sure to follow our social handle for updates though!”
“Blackpink: Light Up the Sky” joins the streaming service’s growing library of music documentaries and concert films. It’s including Beyonce’s “Homecoming,” Taylor Swift’s “Miss Americana” and Lady Gaga’s “Five Foot Two.”
“Director Caroline Suh’s trusted relationship with Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa offers organic and honest moments that give viewers an authentic inside look into the lives of BLACKPINK,” said Netflix’s Adam Del Deo, VP Documentary Features.
“We can’t wait to share our personal stories with Blinks all over the world through Netflix!” said BLACKPINK.
“We hope this film will bring joy and light to the viewers, and they will enjoy seeing our journey together on screen from the past four years.”
The Netflix documentary is directed by Caroline Suh, produced by Cara Mones, and executive produced by Jon Kamen, David Sirulnick, and Zara Duffy at RadicalMedia.
Blackpink recently collaborated with Selena Gomez for their newest single “Ice Cream”. And featured on Lady Gaga’s bilingual song “Sour Candy” from the artist’s latest album “Chromatica.”. The quartet’s hit single, “How You Like That,” released in June, notched 100 million streams in less than a month. “Ice Cream” and “How You Like That” will both appear on their debut album, set for release via YG Entertainment and Interscope Records on Oct. 2.
