Lucifer premiered on Fox in January 2016 where it ran for three seasons. Lucifer was cancelled by Fox after season 3. It was picked up by Netflix within weeks of the cancellation after a social media campaign by fans showed what a dedicated viewership it had.

Ellis commented on the fan support at the time calling it “nothing short of ridiculously overwhelming” and was open in his opinion that the show had more support than the network gave it credit for. Lucifer seasons 4 released on Netflix in May 2019.

Season 6 Will Indeed “Go On”

Now, TV Line is reporting that although Lucifer season 6 has not been officially confirmed, Ellis signing on all but assures the renewal.

It was in April that negotiations between Ellis and Warner Brothers had come to a standstill after Netflix expressed interest in extending the show past it’s reported fifth and final season earlier in the year.

Ellis had a season 6 deal in place, so depending on the circumstances, failing to fulfill the agreement could have put him in breach of contract. It seems that all parties were able to come to an agreement on the matter and with Ellis officially on-board season 6 is all but guaranteed.

Netflix has yet to announce the premiere date for Lucifer season 5, which will consist of 16 episodes to be released in two blocks of eight. This is a jump from season 4, which only had 10 episodes.

Like most productions, the season suffered delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Modrovich excited fans on Twitter earlier in the month by sharing that the season 5 episodes each run between 50-60 minutes. This is a substantially longer run time than most network series which generally come in under 45 minutes.

So after reading all of these, what are u thoughts?
