Helping Grandmother to Open a Door, A Korean Man Charged With a Murder Case

An unintentional murder occurred in a bakery in Seogwipo on Jeju Island, South Korea, May 16. The police report that a 33-year-old man is accused of murdering a 76-year-old grandmother.

As reported in Daum, the incident occurred when the man came to the bakery at 1:50 p.m. He found the grandmother having an issue to open the entrance door. Willing to help her, it turns out to a fatal accident for the grandma.

I tried to help the grandmother who could not open the door, but I am sorry that this is the case,” the man told the police officers who conducted the investigation.

The grandmother fell and suffered a severe head injury. Observed through the CCTV footage, the grandma lost her balance because she was still holding onto the door handle when it is opened. Even though she has been brought to a local hospital in a rush, she sadly passed away moments later.

The man then was charged with negligent manslaughter.
