There’s no doubt whatsoever that besides its fun & real life-esque driving simulation, it is its sick (i mean SICK!) graphic that made Gran Turismo a very legendary driving simulation console video game ever.
When we see and play it, it made us feel like we’re inside our fancy car seat. And based on this fact, it is indeed no wonder if we’re now wanted to see yet another fantastic achievement on their graphic department.
Well, buckle up guys! Because we’re perhaps would get that wish finally come to fruition.
240 FPS & 4K Improvement
In an interview by GTPlanet, Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi stated the following,
“I’m more interested in the advancements we can make in terms of the time resolution… I think that’s what’s going to be changing the experience from here on forward.” He then continues,
“In terms of frames per second, rather than staying at 60 fps, I’m more interested in raising it to 120 fps or even 240 fps.” So in other words here, Yamauchi doesn’t have any interest to upgrade GT’s graphic to 8K resolution. “I think, display resolution-wise, 4K resolution is enough,”
Smart Move
Although you all probably saw this move as an unfortunate, but if you think about it, it is the opposite. In other words, it is a brilliant move especially business-wise.
Because like we already know, most of the household in the whole world (yep even in the home country of United States), the number of those who posses 8K graphic television are still minimal.
Thus logically, why in the blue hell Polyphony Digital wanted to invest their money and everything into something that clearly would give them much less back-profit right? So yeah once again, in my opinion this is a smart-street, very wise business move.
