Not many fans are too keen to know that Black Widow co-writer, Eric Pearson, will helm the script for one of Marvel Studios’ next projects.

The concerns stem mainly from how the fan-favorite mercenary Taskmaster was adapted when it made the jump to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, looking at Pearson’s writing career outside of Black Widow, fans shouldn’t worry too much about hiring options.

About the Screenwriter of Black Widow

Pearson has been with Marvel Studios since almost its inception, enrolling in the studio’s screenwriting program in 2010 and serving as a script doctor for the MCU ever since. During his time in the studio, he wrote three original Marvel Studios One-Shot short films: The Consultant, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer, and Item 47.

After writing three episodes of the television show Agent Carter and serving as story editor for several more episodes, Pearson helped rewrite the script for Ant-Man. Pearson also rewrote page 1 of Thor: Ragnarok, taking over from screenwriter duo Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost.

He would later go on to write without credit for several more films, such as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Eventually, like Ragnarok, he ended up rewriting the script for Black Widow.

Now, Pearson has confirmed Marvel Studios’ next endeavor, which will be a groundbreaking project in the MCU that typically focuses on heroes.

In the finished Instagram Stories, writer Eric Pearson confirmed his involvement in the team-up supervillain film, Thunderbolts. Pearson commented on the image of an article reporting the news, “I think we can finally talk about it!”

Fans have been expecting Marvel Studios to announce a project based on the supervillain team, the Thunderbolts, since The Falcon and Winter Soldier. Audiences are introduced to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the series when she recruits John Walker, but she is also shown making contact with Yelena Belova in the post-credits scene of Black Widow.

Finally, fans are vindicated thanks to recent reports that a Thunderbolts movie is currently in development with director Jake Schreier. However, beyond that, not much else is known about the film, with only speculation as to who the cast will be.

Thunderbolts will be the first time Eric Pearson has written a screenplay from scratch, based on the pitch proposed by its director, Schreier. So, for now, fans don’t have to worry too much about his involvement.
