After being shown in the second Deadpool film, it turns out that the idea for Wolverine in Deadpool Third Movie also exists. The Mutant character is one of the most popular among Marvel fans. With full licensing back to Marvel, the big company found the right way to introduce it again.

The Mutant introduces starting with the best Xavier, the X-Men themselves, and even the same actor has shown us in the sequel to Doctor Strange 2. In the past, the role of Logan aka Wolverine was very closely related to Hugh Jackman for years.

The return of the franchise also brings Deadpool to Marvel Studios, and previously Deadpool would not be getting a reboot. A third film is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and as it turns out, they have some thoughts on who Marvel Studios should choose for their Wolverine.

Speaking with the Post-Credit Podcast, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, writers on Deadpool 3 have commented on what quality they would like to see for Wolverine MCU, with Reese recommending the studio go with someone shorter this time around. Wernick also added that the trust should be placed in the hands of Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige:

“Suggestions… It’s gotta be someone shorter this time… So maybe a Zack Galifianakis or Patton Oswalt, someone like that… I don’t know. Look, we don’t have any inside information on that. Even if we did, we couldn’t share it but we don’t… I would honestly go more… an undiscovered person, because Hugh Jackman was reasonably undiscovered the first time and I think there was initial bucking [of], ‘Oh, he’s too tall,’ or, ‘He doesn’t look right,’ or, ‘What is this Australian thing?’ I think that if they’re playing their cards right, they probably should make it someone we’ve never seen.”

“Oh, don’t worry, they’ll play their cards right, you know, Kevin Feige, he knows what he’s doing over there… he doesn’t need any of our opinions.”

But based on the podcast, it’s clear Reese was just making fun of the casting process for the X-Men’s most popular member when he suggested Patton Oswalt or Zack Galifianakis. But in case you didn’t know, Oswalt is a huge Marvel fan and has played many Marvel characters over the years in shows like Agents of SHIELD and MODOK.

This could potentially be a big clue or just a joke for that matter. This writer duo has a very good point: Ideally, Marvel would choose someone shorter than 6’3″ Hugh Jackman. Wolverine, in the comics pages, is always depicted as having a smaller and more solid build than, say, Spider-Man. or Black Panther. In fact, his official height in the books is listed as one foot shorter than Jackman at 5’3″.

But the character’s height is not the end of everything, so be casting for big Hollywood movies. Expect Marvel to take a lot of other factors into account when choosing the hugely popular MCU role.

As for the Marvel Studios project, Wolverine will be seen in X-Men ’97, a continuation of the classic 1990s X-Men cartoon. Additionally, Feige promised a “mutant” introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019 during San Diego Comic-Con, but there have been no updates since.
