Infinity War and Endgame are the biggest events in the Avengers films that have been made several years before. Now, the MCU continues the biggest franchise with the next biggest event, two peaks like Infinity War and Endgame also revealed at the latest Comic-Con event.
Marvel Studios revealed the next two biggest Avengers films titled Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, both of which will arrive in 2025 to complete the Multiverse Saga. But to the surprise of most fans, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Destin director Daniel Cretton was recently confirmed to helm The Kang Dynasty.
Avengers: Secret Wars Gets Director’s Update
According to Deadline’s Justin Kroll on Twitter, Marvel Studios is planning for Destin Daniel Cretton of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty before another director takes the reins for Avengers: Secret Wars.
And when compared to the previous two Avengers films, most assumed they would be shot in quick succession with the same director, but that’s definitely not going to happen. The Russo Brothers previously implemented this concept with Infinity War and Endgame, after aiming both of them and shooting them in quick succession.
With The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars released just six months apart, the two Avengers blockbusters are expected to be two parts and shoot consecutively. Marvel Studios previously followed this logic for Infinity War and Endgame, but in that case, both films were led by the Russo Brothers.
But he’s going to be very busy, as he’s also working on other MCU projects in the near future. If Secret Wars is going to be handled by another director, maybe Marvel Studios is looking for a different feel for Secret Wars. Nonetheless, the directing debate for the closing epic of the Multiverse Saga can now continue, and there are plenty of contenders still in the mix.
In Secret Wars, the MCU must have the right director because they are risking all the greatest potential for success there. Ryan Coogler of Black Panther and Nia DaCosta of The Marvels might be contenders to tackle Secret Wars.
Hopefully, the best choices happen there and the MCU continues to have the best taste. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty hits theaters May 2, 2025; Secret Wars will follow on November 7, 2025.
