Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City is one of the many Netflix films released in 2021. The film is a reboot of the live-action Resident Evil franchise and follows the events of 2001.

This reboot looks promising at first, more than just following what was shown in the trailer. In particular, this reboot adaptation of the legendary zombie video game franchise is a direct adaptation of the original 3 games.

Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City is a Disappointing Movie

But sadly, when we finally saw the film. The film, directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down), is very disappointing. Not only is the script stacked and forced, but there’s also a bit of inappropriate character treatment.

Albert Wesker is one treatment of film characters that don’t match the game. Wesker is played by Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy). This is the official trailer for Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City, maybe you can consider not watching it.

Even though Hopper has performed as much as possible. It’s a shame because his treatment is very different from the Wesker character in the game, as a result, fans don’t like him.

However, despite the disappointing quality of the film, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was a box-office success. Specifically, from a $25 million budget, the film took home $41.8 million in return.

This is true. But because of these advantages, many people immediately believe that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will have a sequel. But will it really happen?

Hopper Confident With Sequel

In response, Hopper recently interviewed with ScreenRant. He firmly believes that Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City will have a sequel.

Hopper believes this because, according to him, both Sony and Constantin Film are very satisfied with the performance of this film. Then according to him, if there is a sequel to Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, he is ready to play Wesker again.

Hmm, I do not know, guys. Indeed, once again, in terms of box-office revenue, the film was a huge hit. But I don’t know, I’m not sure fans of the franchise want this film to continue. If anything, it’s only a small part.

But yeah, that’s all just my opinion. It is possible that the result will be the opposite. What do you think of yourself? Will this film have a sequel?
