As we know, the DCEU for the oldest version before the one that was just revealed in the Black Adam trailer was broken to get continuity. After a bad experience making 2017’s Justice League, he’s back for a reshoot to finish Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but his involvement with the story seems minimal moving forward.
Last year, Affleck was confirmed to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in next year’s The Flash, which also brought back Michael Keaton’s 1989 Caped Crusader, though the film faced many problems long before its release.
But recently, Affleck’s Batman was used as part of the first trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods movie. So, is there any chance for him to return?
Will Ben Affleck Return as Batman in Aquaman 2?
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star Jason Momoa took to Instagram to share two photos of himself with DCEU Batman star Ben Affleck.
The first image shows Affleck sporting the same haircut he used for Bruce Wayne along with an all-black suit that looks similar to his old costume, suggesting that he will be returning to the DCEU in the Aquaman sequel.
The second picture gives another look at the couple as they laugh loudly at each other, all smiling as they enjoy the moment.
Momoa also included a video with the post showing him interacting with the fan tour, joking about the fact that “It’s no secret” about Affleck being in the film. He then walked over to Affleck’s trailer, which was simply labeled with his initials as Momoa stepped in and took a quick shot of the Batman actor.
It is predicted that The Flash will be Ben Affleck’s last appearance at the DCEU before he hands over the baton to Michael Keaton and Robert Pattinson in their respective universes. But now, it seems Affleck is indeed returning for a supporting role alongside Jason Momoa in the sequel to Aquaman, especially seeing his Bruce Wayne style haircut, adding to the big story for DC’s top aquatic hero.
Whatever the case may be for Batman in the DCEU, it will be interesting to see what happens to Affleck both in this film and with his future in the franchise as a whole. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom premieres in theaters on March 17, 2023.
