Over the past year, Disney+ has made several substantial additions to its collection of Marvel projects, which extend beyond the MCU’s new streaming shows and previous X-Men films under 20th Century Fox. Even recently, the service featured the six shows that make up the Defenders Saga, including plenty of promotional material to highlight that story.
Some of the biggest stars of the Defenders Saga have been front and center for their series inclusions on Disney+, even teaming up with actors from other shows like ABC’s Agents of SHIELD. It also comes as the MCU brings characters from the show into the definitive MCU canon, such as Daredevil Charlie Cox in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin Vincent D’Onofrio in Hawkeye.
Crossover Between Marvel Netflix and MCU
Even with the show getting so much love from an advertising perspective, fans are still wondering if they’ll be fully brought to the timeline with their MCU counterparts one day. Well, a new ad from the Disney+ Instagram account might suggest that crossing over at that level could happen sooner rather than later.
The Instagram account for Disney+ shared five new images highlighting key scenes and crossovers between the main characters from the Defenders Saga, which is being streamed on Netflix. The post came with the following caption, teasing the idea of the show and perhaps a larger universe being “all connected:”
One of the MCU’s underlying themes over the past decade and change has been that things become “all connected” as Marvel Studios builds the biggest interconnected film franchise in play. This continues to be the case with everything that came in Phase 4 after the Infinity Saga, but the TV side of the equation has always been a little fuzzy with its relationship to the bigger MCU.
No matter how these rumors circulated, this ad certainly put the question to the fore once again for fans. All six shows from Netflix’s Defenders Saga are now available to stream on Disney+.
