Doctor Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness introduces us to more about the multiverse. We are introduced to various variants of Doctor Strange, namely Defender Strange, Strange Supreme, Sinister Strange, and Zombie Strange.
One of the highlights is the Strange Supreme variant from Earth-838, the universe where the Illuminati was formed. Unlike in the main universe Earth-616, the Doctor Strange variant in Earth 838 has died. The reason he died has been told in Doctor Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness, which we will also discuss below.
Why Doctor Strange 838 Died?
In the Earth-838, Doctor Strange is a Sorcerer Supreme by the name of Strange Supreme. In the scene when Doctor Strange from Earth-616 comes to Sanctum Santorum on Earth-838, it is shown that the reason why Doctor Strange 838 died is that he’d sacrificed his life to defeat Thanos.
After all, it was just a lie made up by the Illuminati because they were actually who killed the Strange Supreme. Well the reason why the Illuminati killed him was that Strange Supreme used Darkhold for Dreamwalking to another universe.
Strange Supreme did it to see the alternate multiple in various Universes. He then said that “Things Just Got Out of Our Hand.” The same word that Sinister Strange said.
Earth-838’s Strange Supreme’s words suggest that the Multiverse is on the verge of chaos. Remember in the Loki series, He Who Remains who was supposed to guard the Sacred Timeline was killed.
Then the Illuminati had to kill Strange Supreme because they thought he was the biggest threat in the Multiverse. With their superpower, Black Bolt killed Strange Supreme on Titan, the place where Thanos was also defeated on Earth-838.
The Illuminati consists of 6 members, Strange Supreme as its founder, Black Bolt, Captain Marvel (Maria Rambeau), Captain Carter, Reed Richards from Fantastic 4, Professor X, and Baron Mordo as Strange Supreme’s replacement after he dies.
Many fans say that Earth-838 will build on the Secret Wars event, which is rumored to be airing in 2025. For those who don’t know Secret Wars, you can read one of the most famous Marvel Comics: Secret Wars (2015).
