San Diego Comic-Con featured a panel from Marvel Studios in Hall H on Saturday night that charted most of Phases 5 and 6 for the MCU in terms of theatrical releases and Disney+ exclusive series.
Many fans expected some sort of team-up film featuring the Young Avengers to be announced at the convention because so many new and young faces were introduced into the franchise during Phase 4. However, Marvel Studios has instead focused on unveiling new projects like Daredevil: Born Again, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Young Avengers Not Joining Avengers 5 and 6?
While there are no official reports yet to suggest a project featuring the Young Avengers is in progress, many actors who have played young characters in the MCU have commented on the possibility of that happening.
Hailee Steinfeld, the actress behind Kate Bishop, didn’t deny it when asked about The Young Avengers, but simply stated that “a lot of new opportunities are emerging.” Billy Maximoff actor Julian Hilliard was also asked what he thought of the superhero team, and he even mentioned which actor he’d like to work with on the project.
While no official announcement has been made at Comic-Con regarding the Young Avengers, Kevin Feige still has a few words to say about what to expect in the future.
Following a Marvel Studios panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige was asked by Josh Horowitz of MTV News about the lack of announcements about the Young Avengers. Feige responded by mentioning that the MCU has “amazing characters” that have been “introduced in Phase 4,” alluding that if there was a project featuring the Young Avengers, it would have come much further.
It’s also important to remember that, during an interview with ComicBook prior to Hawkeye’s release, actress Hailee Steinfeld was asked about the potential Young Avengers team project. He then glanced back at Kevin Feige, and when the two stared at each other for a moment, it seemed like they had something to hide.
Based on his quotes and reactions, it looks like Feige has plans for the Young Avengers. Meanwhile, his statement alludes to the possibility that there will be more solo projects in the works centered around some of the MCU’s newcomers, and fans always have already announced projects to look forward to.
