The infiltration of the MCU by the evil Skrulls is about to take place in the upcoming Disney+ Secret Invasion series. The show will star the one and only Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury as he teams up with Talos Ben Mendelsohn to battle a group of shape-shifting aliens who have been on Earth for years, creeping into world governments and wreaking havoc.
Little is known about the plot of the series, but several cast members have been announced, including Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke and Marvel veteran Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill. Also on the road is actor Christopher McDonald who is, perhaps, best known for his work on 1996’s Happy Gilmore. It’s unclear who McDonald’s portrayed in Secret Invasion, but he had some interesting details to offer in a recent interview.
Secret Invasion Actor Confirms Author of Reshoots Added
Speaking to Awards Focus, Secret Invasion star Christopher McDonald mentioned that Marvel had brought in a new writer for the show’s reshoots which, as he put it, “strengthened it:”
In addition, the actor sings the praises of the series and his “amazing” experience working on it. He also offers interesting tidbits about his character’s ability to be part of “any storyline in the Marvel universe.”
It’s always great to hear when an actor in one of these acclaimed Marvel Studios productions had an enjoyable and rewarding time working on it. It’s cool to see McDonald discuss how Secret Invasion has fulfilled his ambition to play a character in the MCU.
Of course, it is not known exactly who this new author is. McDonald’s didn’t name them, and with so many screenwriters working in Hollywood these days, it could be anyone. What’s important, however, is that they seem to have had a positive impact on the series and that they’ve added a lot of depth to the story.
Secret Invasion is rumored to be undergoing reshoots for four full months. Why such a long shooting block? It can accommodate various star schedules. Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but the release window is confirmed by Marvel sometime in early 2023.
