While PUBG was the game that introduced the Battle Royale mode to the gaming world. Simply having a battle royale mode in a game does not grant success. The latest game company to learn this is Bethesda which decided to end the battle royale mode in a major game.

Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 76’s Nuclear Winter battle royale is ending this September. The Fallout 76’s update post on the official Bethesda blog has confirmed that the team will be moving on. Players could still play in the mode and get nice bonus and rewards until Nuclear Winter officially close.

The Reason Why Battle Royale Mode is Ending

The news about Nuclear Winter’s demise came at the end of the pre-Xbox showcase blogpost. While the team was happy with the overwhelming support. The initial hype was short. The post said that players liked “other aspects of the game” it was due to Nuclear Winter’s diminishing player base and the challenge of keeping the mode updated alongside the main game that led to Bethesda’s decision. Because of Bethesda remarks about battle royale games in 2018, it came as a surprise for Fallout 76 players.

The latest content for Fallout 76 was the Locked and Loaded update, it ushered the fourth season of the game. As the new season “Cold Steel” is in full operation, it means limited-time events will be launching as well. The same blog post said that the end of Nuclear Winter announced a new quest line with Brotherhood of steel which is releasing next week.

For more details on what is coming to Fallout 76, the game will be featured in the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase which will be hosted on 13th of June.
