The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on basically every industry in the world, and video games are no exception. The pandemic has caused E3 2020 to be canceled, with game companies now looking for alternative ways to showcase all of their upcoming titles.
The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley has attempted to collect all these different presentations into what he calls the Summer Game Fest.
The Summer Game Fest kicked off with the recent Inside Xbox presentation, which saw the announcement of some Xbox Series X console exclusives and showed some brief snippets of Xbox Series X gameplay for the first time.
The Next Event Timeline Revealed
It’s been confirmed that the Summer Game Fest’s next event is a special showcase taking place on Wednesday, May 13 at 8am PT.
No other details about what the event will entail have been revealed at the time of this writing, beyond the fact that it will feature an interview with Summer Game Fest organizer Geoff Keighley.
Summer Game Fest Shouldn’t Be Just a One-Off
Regardless the event will be a big fat success or just a mediocre, but i think we all agree that looking ahead, there should be plenty more for Summer Game Fest enthusiasts to look forward to.
June will include a special Cyberpunk 2077 presentation, along with the annual EA Play event. Summer Game Fest will be concluding on August 24 at Gamescom, and it will definitely be exciting to see exactly what SGF will choose to end with.
