Titania’s Cast Responds to Marvel Fans’ Opinions

The next Marvel Studios project is almost here, and it will be like nothing the MCU has seen before. Starring Tatiana Maslany, She-Hulk; Lawyers at Law has been described as a half-hour legal comedy in which Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner’s attorney and cousin, must not only deal with the She-Hulk transformation but also assume a position as a member of the superhuman legal division.

Alongside old and new faces, as well as Mark Ruffalo as Professor Hulk, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law does have a designated villain – whose actresses have some thoughts on Marvel Studios’ particular fan base.

When asked by Phaze Zero about her Hall H experience at San Diego Comic-Con, Jameela Jamil, who plays classic comic book villain Titania, admitted that she thought Marvel fans “would boo [her].”

But although Jamil expected a backlash, he has an appreciation for Marvel’s fan base and attributes much of the MCU’s success to their passion and opinion, saying,

Even though MCU fans supported Jameela Jamil, CGI She-Hulk received quite the backlash after the show’s first trailer and has dominated much of the conversation ever since.

While the VFX for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Professor Hulk remains standard, She-Hulk Maslany looks cartoonish and even outdated by comparison. While the footage that has already been shown is preliminary and will likely be improved before the premiere of the Disney+ series, the question of whether the visuals will distract from the show itself has been a concern.

While the show’s overall reception remains to be seen, Jamil’s expectations of negative reception at Comic-Con may also be due to his character as Titania, which the actress describes as “irritating” and lacks self-awareness.

Just like She-Hulk, it looks like Titania will be a villain the MCU has never seen before. She-Hulk debuts on Disney+ on Thursday, August 18.
