Will Chris Pratt be Canceled by MCU is only a new question and at the same time rumors circulating, after the controversy that has just occurred recently. This guy is one of the biggest names in the Hollywood industry, he is one of the main characters in the MCU franchise and also the main role that made a big impact in the film Jurassic World.
Chris Pratt also reportedly had a minor role in Thor: Love and Thunder, while he was at the center of rumors about his religious beliefs. Could that controversy be a problem for him in the MCU? Let’s find out.
Will Chris Pratt be Canceled by MCU Following the Controversy?
In case you missed it, over the past few years, Pratt has come under fire on several occasions for reportedly being a member of a church that supports hate speech, mostly against people in the LGBTQIA+ community. He was also a target for the political sphere, being called out for not attending a Democratic election event that included other MCU stars such as Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson.
Since the allegations were publicly made, Pratt has garnered a lot of support for the character and his beliefs, most notably from Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn – someone who never refrains from making the truth known about any matter. Now, Pratt himself has explained what happened, giving the fandom the truth about what happened to this story.
Men’s Health examines the controversy behind Chris Pratt’s comments about religion that, in recent years, people online have used against him in an attempt to overturn it.
After actor Elliot Page summoned Pratt for reportedly attending a church that supported hate speech and anti-LGBTQIA+ messages in 2019, Pratt explained that he was never associated with that church. He attributes not being stronger against the church to not wanting to “throw the church under the bus” in that example:
”What he didn’t say then—and what he tells me now—is: “I never went to Hillsong. I’ve never actually been to Hillsong. I don’t know anyone from that church. Okay. Why not say that at the time? I’m gonna, like, throw a church under the bus? If it’s like the Westboro Baptist Church, that’s different.”
Pratt also noted how he and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, chose a lesser-known Catholic church in Santa Monica, California for their daughter’s baptism.
GOTG Director Reaction
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn admitted to this situation being infuriating, complimenting Pratt for being “unspeakably kind to people.” The director made it clear that Pratt is subject to plenty of made-up facts about him that get pushed through the media on a regular basis.
Pratt believes that people only remember the part where he mentions God, understanding why some people don’t react as well as he’d hoped. He does not see himself as the “face of religion” while not being a deeply religious person, explaining some of the differences he sees in how people use religion to their own advantage.
Chris Pratt’s history of outspoken religion has put him in a negative light with certain sects of the MCU fandom, especially after Elliot Page’s statements about the church he reportedly supports. However, hardly anyone has supported him more through these difficult times than his co-workers and MCU stars, who have consistently praised Pratt for his character and work ethic.
Hopefully, everything is going well, meaning this controversy finds good. After that, we can enjoy all the films that he brought to all film events.
